Intelligent GPS

I am hunting websites to buy GPS for my car when i came to know about this deadly feature.

Nowadays GPS has lots of stuff other than navigation, some GPS are blue tooth enabled, you can connect your cell phone via blue tooth to the GPS and when you are driving if someone calls you, you answer them over the GPS, isnt that cool. (may be tooo much !!)

Next is it comes with deadly hard disk storage, you can store all the mp3's you have on the GPS.

Another feature is still in research, intelligent positioning.

Assume you are going from boston to newyork and there is heavy traffic on an interstate, GPS is capable of getting real time traffic information (note not travel route but congestion info) and recalculate the time taken based on traffic and suggest you alternate route.

Wait wait !!!!!! this is disastrous, so assume there are 20 cars going with this GPS, if these GPS find out the traffic congestion and calculates alternate route, then if these 20 cars go in the alternate route then the alternate route is going to get congested right !!!!! so we are looking at a battle between GPS devices. Dont know where it will end up :)

But the idea seems too cool and also being a developer i was thinking then what is the solution, the survival of the GPS :)

Google recently released google maps for the cell phones, any one can install it free and they detect your current location (amazing) they tell you where you are on the map with a small green dot.
